LS Precast as Victoria’s most advanced precast concrete manufacturing facility will play a crucial role in Victoria’s biggest ever road project- securing regional jobs and providing a boost to the local economy.
The facility will provide over 40,000 concrete segments for the North East Link’s 6.5 kilometer road tunnel with production having started in May. LS Precast will be aiming to manufacture over 360 segments weekly and start delivery to Watsonia in early 2024.
Owner and Managing Director, Ashley Day has taken over management of the Benalla precast site and will oversee the day to day operations at ground level. This commitment will provide a workforce of over ninety employees and bring more economic growth to the region through engaging with local suppliers and businesses.
LS Precast will look to pave a new direction for the Benalla facility in employing local people and providing exciting career pathways. Along with his extensive involvement in the community through LS Quarry, Ashley Day is excited to continue his efforts in the community and expand his workforce for local people and families. “
Signing our commercial agreement and securing production requirements for the North-East Link project is a testament to the hard work, commitment, and passion of our teams in Benalla, both at our precast facility and quarries. This signifies a huge step in securing ongoing and long-term employment for our workforce and allows us to continue to demonstrate how strong regional businesses can be a competitive and attractive supplier and producer of a range of products to a number of projects across Australia” Day said.
Benalla Rural City Mayor Bernie Hearn & CEO Dom Testoni expressed their excitement for the future of the precast factory, “It’s fantastic that the LS Precast site will continue to operate, and that local businessman Ashley Day from LS Quarry will become involved in the management of the site. Benalla’s future looks positive with this level of activity supporting many local businesses, individuals, families, and the State of Victoria”.
